Colon Problems

The human colon, also called the large intestine, is the lower portion of the digestive system. The colon is shaped like an upside down letter “U” and is comprised of three major sections. The ascending colon starts in the lower right area of the abdomen and goes upwards below the liver, where it turns into the transverse colon as it goes across the abdomen, before becoming the sigmoid colon section when it descends to the point where it meets the rectum. There are a number of common colon problems that can affect a person’s overall health, with some much more serious than others.

First of all, people do not eat enough fiber. This is a big problem for a lot of people, but a bigger problem for women. In fact, women as a whole do not get enough fiber. This means that female colon problems usually stem from that. It can be hard for people to get the fiber they need, but fiber is put into a lot of food. In fact, colon problems can almost all be avoided all together if you eat enough fiber. To get enough fiber, you should be eating about 15 to 18g a day. Although this is a bigger problem for women, it’s a problem for some men as well. So everyone needs to eat their fiber to keep colon health problems at bay and prevent colon blockage.

The next problem is that people do not drink enough water. It is much better to pick up an ice cold coke or something like that when you are thirsty. However, this is a good way to get toxic waste out of your body, a process called detoxification. This means that you are going to be a lot less likely to have back up in your colon. When you have no back up in your colon, then you have less colon problems. It’s as simple as that. However, you do need to keep in mind that just because you drink water does not mean that you do not have to eat fiber. These are things that have to be eaten together.

Last, but not least, if your colon still does not feel clean, then you need to go see your doctor. There are a lot of good herb ideas that the doctor can give you that can help to clean out your colon. This could be the best, natural way, to clean out your colon. Overall, cleaning out your colon is a must. It is the best way to avoid colon problems altogether and keep your colon healthy and happy. Talk to your doctor to see what he thinks. If there are any problems with your colon, he may want to do a few tests on you to make sure that your colon is fine. At the same time, it is very important that you do what you can to make sure that your colon stays clean and ready to go. After all, no one likes the feeling of being backed up.

Do you have a colon problem?

Whether you’re a man or a woman, your colon is one of the most essential organs in the human body. It is the key to digestion, well-being, maintaing a healthy weight, and energy levels. Consequently, keeping our colon healthy is very important. If not, we can develop colon-related diseases such as colitis, Crohn’s disease, IBS, hemorrhoids, colon cancer, and constipation.

Colon Polyps

Polyps are abnormal growths that stick out into your intestinal canal. They are quite common, and occur in about 18% of adults. How do you know if you polyps? Well, there are usually no good signs, as it’s usually detected via x-ray or endoscopy.

If you have non-cancerous colon polyps, it is recommended you consult your doctor. He/she will usually remove all your polyps with a wire loop or simply by subjecting them to an electric current. If all else fails, surgery is the last option.

Removing your colon polyps is critical in preventing cancer, so please take action, and most importantly have regular checkups!

Crohn’s Disease

This is a very famous disease that occurs in the GI tract. It is an inflammatory disease and affects up to 2 million people in the US. If you have Crohn’s disease, your body mistakes regular foods as harmful substances. The body, as a result attacks itself leading to inflammation. People with Crohn’s disease often do not know they even have it as it can easily be mistaken for IBS, or colitis.

Symptoms of Crohn’s Disease

-Cramping
-Diarrhea
-Bloating, weight loss
-Skin lesions

To treat Crohn’s disease, you need to take medication. Surgery is often required for most patients as well.

Ulcerative Colitis

Colitis is also an inflammatory disease that occurs mostly in people under 30. Ulcers form on the linings of your colon, and there is a lot of inflammation surrounding the lower colon.

Symptoms of Colitis

You know you have colitis if you experience:
- lots of rectal bleeding
- pain in your abdome
- bloating, or fatigue.

Ulcerative colitis is usually caused by a myraid of factors such as genetics, a weak immune system, and harmful outside substances.

Treating Colitis

To treat colitis, you need to take anti-inflammatory medications. This cures most people with colitis. Others might require surgery.

How can we prevent having a colon problem?

1. Get Good Fiber in Our Diet Most of us do not have 2 or so bowel movements a day, which can lead to severe problems down the road, as these toxins will eventually circulate back to our body causing “autointoxification”.

One way to prevent this is to change our diet, and add more fiber naturally. There are two types of fiber – soluble and insoluble, and we need to get both types. Soluble fiber include flaxseed, strawberries and citrus fruits, oats and rice. Insoluble fiber is effective against constipation, and include: carrots, brussel sprouts, cabbage, whole wheat, and barley.

If your lifestyle is such that you can’t get enough fiber in your diet, you may want to consider taking a fiber shake such as Oxy-Powder everyday, or fiber supplements. Though getting fiber-rich foods naturally is the way to go, any fiber is better no fiber.

2. Get a regular checkup from your medical doctor. Even though I am a practictioner of alternative medicine, I do not shun conventional medicine. I believe both have its faults and benefits.
